To have a chance at a second term, Adams must stop the animosity

The last time New York City had the level of antisemitic hatred it is dealing with today was way back in August of 1991 when Crown Heights erupted after a young Black boy was killed by a car being driven by an Orthodox Jewish man. 

During the protest marches, Israeli flags were burned and Jewish businesses looted. Mayor David Dinkins’ failure to take charge of the situation early on was a major black eye for his administration and was a significant factor in helping Rudy Guiliani defeat him in the 1993 mayoral race.
